La Brasserie Bar & Restaurant
Ooh la la! Yes, downtown Darlo has its own little piece of Paris – even if it is like a fish out of water nestled next to a hairdresser and across the road from a gym!
What’s the look? French, dahling, French. A cheeky red awning and cane chairs out front make way for dark floorboards, white tablecloths and a long bar perfect for swinging a tanned leg and sipping a champagne or three.
Who’s around? Local couples snuggled onto dark leather banquettes and dining on the classic French fare; singles enjoying a drink at the bar and a chat with the bartender.
What’s the vibe? Low-key but friendly, with lovely staff who’ve got their drinks down pat.
So if I’ve got a thirst… Check out the more than decent wine list. Or try cocktails such as the saucily named Soixante-Neuf, or the Brasserie Birdytail – it’s a delicate mix of Grand Marnier, Mandarin Napoleon shaken with lime juice.
How about the music? It’s sexy, soulful French jazz.
Best for? A hot date.
The warm lighting induces… Naughty thoughts – and a lust for dessert.
