Henry Afrikas
Manly venues can be hit and miss… True. But this three-level hotspot is a seaside gem.
What’s the look? Beach chic meets safari watering hole. Henry’s ground floor Café Bar is great for kicking back on a comfy cane lounge and drinking in the drop-dead gorgeous view of Manly Beach.
Who’s going there? In early evening, it’s a mix of twenty and thirtysomethings; from 9pm, it’s all about the mating rituals of Manly’s glam young things.
What’s the music like? Acoustic acts on Friday, Saturday and Sundays, followed by Playboy-Mansion style DJ beats. The club downstairs is all funk, soul and hiphop.
Feed me! Sample the café menu’s seared scallops, corn and potato relish ($14), grab a pizza (from $16) or head upstairs to the restaurant for a more substantial meal.
Water me! First, drool over the cocktail menu – it’s divided into sections such as Fizzy Ones, Coolers, Classics and The Unusuals, with something to tickle everyone’s tastebuds.
Best for? Drinks on a Sunday arvo with a gal pal.
If this bar was an animal it would be… A lioness – cool, unruffled, but ready to pounce.
