The Argo

The look:  Sleek and modern, The Argo doesn’t believe in assaulting your senses with an OTT fit-out that overshadows the fine wine and good food on offer. Quite the reverse – wine is part of the decor in the private dining cellar.
The great outdoors: a fairly seamless extension of the main bar, the topiary-lined courtyard doesn’t need a balmy evening to look inviting.
To drink: By the time you’ve read the full wine list, you will definitely need a drink. Even the Argo’s by-the-glass selection takes some study. Beer lovers won’t find it quite as hard to choose but there’s still a respectable collection of boutique locals and Euro-brews.
To eat: Casual diners can order gastro-pub interpretations of classics like the veal schnitzel ($19.50) and mixed grill ($19.50) at the bar.
The crowd: Seems that stilettos can’t carry certain party-goers this far from Chapel Street, so you probably won’t asphyxiate on fake tan here.
Best for: Serious grape grazing.
