Revolver Upstairs
The look: Despite a
bit of retouching, Revolver remains true to its distressed roots 10 years on.
The peeling walls, front-porch couches, inverted lampshades and Laminex kitchen
tables make everyone feel at home. Meanwhile, chandeliers and graffittied
toilets reveal Revolver as a venue of contradictions and extremes.
To drink:
Classic cocktails, beers and quite a reasonable list of mainly Australian
wines. But (perhaps because the odd celebrity has been known to prop up the
bar) you can also get a bottle of Dom Perignon.
To eat: cheap, fast and filling
Thai food means that you don’t have to club on an empty stomach. Dishes include
the fragrant jungle fish curry ($11.90) or chicken pad thai ($9.90).
Bar soundtrack: Depends on the night. The band room has hosted every genre from hip
hop to Britpop while DJs provide equally diverse playlists. Check the web for
the weekly line-up.
Best for: People who like to party ‘til breakfast and
beyond.
