Oyster

Oyster Little Bourke

The look: Oyster’s altar-like marble bar frames the entrance and divides the drinkers from the diners in the restaurant. Take a seat before the bartender, or hoist yourself up on a leggy stool to watch Little Bourke Street go by.
The great outdoors: Café style seating is available on the footpath for those who like their oysters smoked.
To drink: The drink selection ably covers the bases but it’s the kind of setting that befits a cocktail. Consult the short but considered list for classics and house creations like the pure tomato martini ($18) featuring clear tomato consommé and a hefty vodka kick.
To eat: As the name implies, seafood features prominently. Each day brings a new selection of freshly shucked oysters from around the country. Turn up during Oyster Hour (5.30-6.30pm) and enjoy your molluscs for half the price.
The crowd: Besuited banker types.
Best for: Flirting. If the oysters don’t fire up the libido, the alcohol will.
