Hotel Nest

The look: Sleek, white and Mr Sheen bright, there’s nothing emo about Hotel Nest’s spanking new fit-out. The front bar features a quarry load of marble matched with understated seating, while the rear dining room exudes an airy, French simplicity.
To drink: Choose from an impressive selection of local and imported brews including Pepperjack Ale ($7.50) and Gage Road Malt Lager ($7.50). Alternatively, try something from the bar’s cocktail storybook. The Ruby Rosella ($16) is a Nest signature drink, featuring ruby grapefruit, vodka and peppercorn syrup.
To eat: Landing here at dinner time will yield dishes like wagyu beef burgers ($14 each) poached chicken risotto ($15) and Jocks ice creams ($9). For a fancier feed, head to the Hotel Nest bistro.
Bar soundtrack: Blue Note remixes and similarly jazzy sounds.
Best for: Skipping the personal trainer and settling in for some extended indulgence. Better still, bring him along to carry the pint glasses.
