The Deck of Secrets series is a guide of cult-like appeal especially amongst those of Melbourne. Here we'll feature excerpts and quotes from those who champion the guides.
Ciaran from Red Monkey Teahouse bar in North Melbourne
You should know that, since the first deck came out, I'm guessing 5 years or so ago, I haven't heard a bad word about it. Industry people consider the 'shopping secrets' concept a stroke of genius and the 'deck' itself remains fresh, I guess because of its simple design and wide appeal both as a guide and a souvenir.

Congratulations on Bar Secrets - the final product is absolutely sensational, and we have had great feedback from everyone who attended the Opening Ceremony of Melbourne Spring Fashion Week, and received a copy. This is a fantastic device for us to market the city's bars.

Film Victoria
The Ghost Rider team loved the Bar Secrets. Director Mark Steven Johnson and Producer Avi Arad systematically used the cards to guide themselves through Melbourne after dark for the duration of their production stay - with great success and enjoyment! Spike Jonze was out until the wee hours on his last night in Melbourne guided solely by information contained in Bar Secrets!

Quest on Bourke Hotel, Melbourne
As the Business Development Manager of Quest on Bourke, we are always looking for innovative products that we can incorporate in new packages to make our visitors select this property as their accommodation in Melbourne and to make their stay memorable. The Secrets cards really help us do this, we have a Secrets Package on our direct booking website and we sell them to guests as part of their package. We have just placed our third order for cards and the guests just love them. They are a wonderfully presented idea that promotes this great city we live in. They always take them home with them and the great size means visitors can pack a lot of great memories of Melbourne into their bags easily. We love dealing with the team at Secrets and our guests do too!

Ok first of all, you absolutely must find a bookshop and arm yourself with a copy of Deck of Secrets‘
“Bar Secrets: Melbourne” and “Bar Secrets: Melbourne City Fringe”.
These sell for under $10 each, and have 52 cards, each with a review,
contact details and map for some of Melbourne’s nicer bars. Be warned
that many of Melbourne’s bars are hidden away - it’s often quite a hunt
to find the obscure alleyways where we hide our best venues.

The Travel Junkie
I began my quest into Melbourne's nightlife through the eyes of a deck of cards.
"Bar Secrets Melbourne" is a deck of cards profiling 52 of the hippest and newest bars and pubs in this vibrant Australian city.
(There are also versions of these cards for restaurants and shopping locations; for me, information on hidden bars, clubs and little-known venues was right up my alley.)
